Plug Power Inc. said that the company's GenCore 5T48, a 5 kW backup fuel cell system, is providing backup power to the Oneida Country Rural Telephone network. The fuel cell unit is installed in a hut with digital switching equipment located in a rural area in Oneida County in upstate New York. The system was installed in July and has already provided backup power during a recent storm-related power interruption.
To date, Plug Power said it has delivered more than 75 GenCore systems to customers requiring a backup power alternative.
