Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc., said it has supplied a hydrogen fuel storage and delivery system for General Motors' revolutionary Hy-wire, the world's first drivable fuel cell and by-wire vehicle. The Hy-Wire was scheduled to be shown to the public at the Paris Auto Show in September.
Quantum designed its ultra-lightweight, advanced-composite TriShield hydrogen tank design to fit within the very tight packaging envelope of GM's Hy-wire skateboard-like chassis, which has a maximum depth of 11 in. Quantum's 5000 psi hydrogen fuel storage system fits within an area designed to incorporate all of the touring sedan's propulsion and control systems.
