Flexible chassis dynamometer - Test Equipment 2002 - from the Labeco Division of Renk Corp - Brief Article - Product Announcement
Diesel Progress North American Edition, Feb, 2002
The Labeco Division of Renk Corp. has developed a flexible chassis dynamometer system for light-, medium-and heavy-duty trucks. The turnkey test system is supplied with the Renk Dynamic Data System, Windows NT-based (RDDSNT) electronic control system that enables manual as well as fully automatic test cycles generated by a host computer, the company said. The test system can be used to test vehicles with single- or tandem-drive axles and a second set of rollers can be used for testing four-wheel drive vehicles.
The turnkey test system is suitable for both single investigations with manual control and for fully automatic testing. It incorporates two 500 hp d.c. flanged to a collecting gearbox, with the pinions of the spur gear directly mounted on the motor shaft. The gear housing is integrated in the motor support frame and absorbs all the high forces. Because the roller shaft has its bearings in the gearbox housing within the trunnion mounting arrangement, no bearing losses will appear.
When combined with the option of a shiftable load cell and a separate drive for one single motor, the control and measuring accuracy can be adapted to smaller vehicles, the company said.
