New facility for FEV - Test Equipment 2002 - FEV Engine Technology Inc - Brief Article

Diesel Progress North American Edition, Feb, 2002

FEV Engine Tecimology is near completion on its new Transient Test facility, as an integral part of the company's North American Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Mich.

The test facility includes a transient dynamometer which will allow light and heavy-duty transient testing over U.S. and European-based test cycles. The test facility is also equipped to measure all standard emissions and has the additional capability to measure unregulated emissions through either a mass spectrometer or an FTIR.

Particulate measurements will be performed using a state-of-the-art dynamic mini-dilution tunnel. The evaluation process of the particulates, including determination of total mass, soluble organic fraction and sulfates will be performed in FEV's in-house laboratory. The dyno control system was developed by FEV.

The new test facility is scheduled to be completed in early March. The North American Technical Center includes more than 16,500 sq.ft. of engine development facilities, including six test cells, and 18,000 sq.ft. of office space.
