Noise-hardened torque transmitters - Test Equipment - Brief Article

Diesel Progress North American Edition, Feb, 2004

S. Himmelstein and Co. has introduced the new MCRT 39000X series two-wire, 4 to 20 mA torque transmitters. The robust, noncontact devices are designed to measure the torque, speed and power of rotating machines. Features of the new torque transmitters include hardening against electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by IGBT-based adjustable speed drives and the company guarantees a tenfold increase in noise immunity when compared to earlier models. Other improvements include higher accuracy, extended torque ranges and higher operating speeds.

MCRT 39000X transmitters offer high safety margins with 400% overload ratings. They feature bidirectional operation from stall to maximum speed, signal filtering and an NIST traceable calibration. Stainless steel shafts, splash-proofing and permanent lubrication enhance performance and provide long, maintenance-free life, the company said. Standard models are available in capacities from 25 through 2 million lb.in. Both shaft and flanged types are offered.
