Back into the flow: Zinga Industries set to unveil range of new filtration products; new business unit for valves and manifolds

Diesel Progress North American Edition,  March, 2005  by Mike Brezonick

When a company maintains a low profile for any period of time, it's frequently considered a bad sign. In reality, what it very often means is that the company is busy internally and big things are in the works. Such is the case for Zinga Industries.

Following a period of years where the company kept a lower than normal profile than it had in the past, the Reedsburg, Wis., filtration specialist has begun to unveil a series of new products and capabilities, many of which will be seen for the first time publicly- at the ConExpo-Con/Agg--IFPE 2005 show in Las Vegas. There, the company will officially unveil the latest in its range of hydraulic filtration products and will also take the wraps off a whole new division specializing in valve and manifold products, a significant expansion of the company's mobile fluid power portfolio.

"We were probably operating a little under the radar for awhile," said Mark Joncas, Zinga's marketing manager. "There was a lot going on, but much of it involved things we were really not able to talk about. But, we have really been active and busy on different fronts. Now we're ready to start telling people about it."

Much of Zinga's business has always been on the quieter side, for good reason. Founded in 1976, much of the company's business has traditionally involved private labeling of spin-on filters and components for other manufacturers. Over the years, Zinga's product range has continued to expand to where it now includes:

* Complete lines of internally and externally mounted strainers with and without magnets.

* Tank diffusers, both in-tank and external styles.

* Spin-on filter heads, with single and multiple element options.

* Canister-style spin-on filter elements, with cellulose, synthetic, wire mesh, with and without magnets, and water-absorbing media.

* Tank top and reservoir filters, with a variety of cellulose, wire cloth, with and without magnets, water absorbing, and synthetic filter elements.

* Pressure filters in a range of styles with capacities to 6000 psi.

* Pressure, vacuum and sight level gauges.

* Portable fluid transfer and filter carts.

* Fittings and accessories.

* Hydraulic integrated circuit manifolds.

Most recently, Zinga announced significant new additions to several of its product lines. New to the pressure filter range are the W1200 series and P3000 series. The W1200 filters are designed for inline and high shock return line filtration applications that have flows to 120 gpm. They have a maximum operating pressure range of 1200 psi--with an operating temperature range of -40[degrees] to 250[degrees]F. The filters feature a die cast aluminum head and anodized die cast aluminum bowl that incorporate a knurled surface to allow for easier gripping when disassembling the unit for element replacement.

The W1200 filters are available in two configuration lengths, 9 or 12.6 in. overall length. Weights are 6.6 or 8.8 lb. depending on length.

The P3000 filters are targeted toward applications such as external charge pump, inline or high shock return line filtration. Maximum operating pressure is 3000 psi and the units can handle flows to 30 gpm. Operating temperature range is -40[degrees] to 250[degrees]F.

The P3000 units have a similar construction to the W1200 filters, with a die cast aluminum head and anodized extruded aluminum bowl, and range from 7.73 to 11.26 in. overall length depending on model. Weight ranges from 4.2 to 5.2 lb.

Zinga is also unveiling a new range of "Clean Out" reservoir hatch covers incorporating strainers and diffusers. The Clean Out Hatch products are designed to be externally mounted on the reservoir and are available in steel or aluminum construction.

The strainer hatch covers are available with two types of strainers. One with a stainless-steel wire cloth and the other with magnets and stainless-steel wire cloth. The strainer hatch covers are available in flow rates to 600 gpm with port sizes from 3/4 in. to 6 m. Four wire mesh sizes--30, 60, 100 and 200 mesh are available to match the pre-filtration needs of the application, the company said.

The magnetic strainers have flow capacities to 75 gpm and ports from 3/4 in. to 2 1/2 in. The diffusers offer flows to 600 gpm, port sizes from 3/4 in. to 6 in. and the complete selection of mesh sizes.

A range of additional port sizes, including BSP and SAE styles, are available and 3 or 5 psi bypass valves am also available in all models.

All of the Clean Out Hatch products are completely assembled with Buna-N o-ring seals standard, ready to bolt onto the hydraulic reservoir. Optional weld collar kits are also available. Joncas said. "For the user of our Hatch Covers, it just makes it a lot easier to maintain a cleaner hydraulic system. A cleaner system lasts longer and costs less to operate in the long run."

Another new product series from Zinga Industries is the FTB and FTBR series spin-on filler breathers. This new series of breathers incorporates a pressure/vacuum relief valve along with six choices of spin-on elements. Relief valve settings offered am 3, 5 and 10 psi.
