Westport Innovations Inc. was awarded $2.25 million in funding to support the development, demonstration, commercialization and certification of its heavy-duty LNG fuel system for the Cummins ISX to meet 2010 EPA emissions regulations. The funds were received from South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), California Energy Commission (CEC) and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Under the terms of the agreement, Westport will receive $1.25 million from the SCAQMD, $250,000 from each port and $500,000 from the CEC.
