New compact tractors from Kubota - AG Equipment - Kubota Tractor Corp
Diesel Progress North American Edition, April, 2003
Kubota Tractor Corp. (KTC) has introduced two compact tractors designed for ag and utility equipment applications. The B7800HSD compact tractor is built on the platform of the established, top-of-the-line B2910 tractor, while the M4800SU is designed to be a basic economical, two-wheel drive machine.
The B7800HSD tractor is powered by a Kubota V1505-E diesel rated 30 hp. The engine is a four-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit that features the company's E-TVCS combustion system. It directly drives a Kubota hydrostatic transmission that features three operating speed ranges for greatest efficiency. Speed and direction are controlled through a single pedal, with no clutching required.
The engine also drives dual Kubota hydraulic pumps that operate work and steering circuits. The main pump has a flow rate of 6.4 gpm, while the steering pump delivers 3.09 gpm. The use of two pumps ensures versatile implement operation with enough power for efficient work and smooth steering, the company said.
The Category I, three-point hitch incorporates a new Kubota-designed quarter inching valve that acts as a regulator, enabling the operator to make smaller adjustments at the lower link end. The lever guide can move in quarter--inch, increments making attaching/detaching implements easier while enhancing grading performance.
The B7800R (rigid ROPS) tractor is equipped with a standard rear PTO and has an optional mid PTO. The B7800F (foldable ROPS) machine has the rear and mid PTO as standard equipment. Optional implements for both include a front/rear blade, rotary tiller, box scraper, front loader, backhoe, grass catcher, trencher, front/rear snowblower, rear-mount mower, and mid-mount mower. The mid-mount mower and loader have a quick-attach design allowing easy installation, no tools required.
The front loader operates at a fast cycle time thanks to Kubota's series valve regenerative hydraulic circuit allowing for simultaneous operation, a feature usually found on larger and more expensive tractors, the company said.
The M4800SU two-wheel drive tractor is powered by a Kubota V2403-M diesel that delivers 43 PTO hp. The liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engine incorporates a dual element dry-type air cleaner designed to enhance engine life. The engine drives a Kubota partially synchronized main transmission that provides eight forward and four reverse. Through use of the range shift lever, it can act as a synchronized shuttle transmission between forward (low range) and reverse, making font loader work more efficient, Kubota said. An optional creep speed kit gives it 12 forward and four reverse speeds.
As with the B7800 tractors, the front and rear axles are built by Kubota.
The M4899 tractor also incorporates dual hydraulic pumps, one to drive the implements (10.9 gpm) and the other for steering (6.07 gpm). An independent 540 rpm PTO uses a Kubota hydraulic wet-type PTO clutch for less wear and long life. The PTO brake engages when the clutch is shut off and securely holds the PTO shaft. To aid implement hook-up, the PTO shaft can rotate 60[degrees] with the engine off.
The Category I and II, three-point hitch has an adjustable top link, turnbuckle-type lift rod and telescopic stabilizers to give fast, easy hook-up and adjustment of rear-mounted implements.
The semi-flat deck on the M4800SU has been ergonomically engineered to provide plenty of legroom. Hanging pedals translate into additional space and are easy to operate. The ISO-mounted deck greatly reduces vibration and noise, helping to decrease operator fatigue. All control levers are color-coded and have been strategically positioned for maximum operating room, efficiency and access, KTC said.
The full-open hood is made of formed steel for longevity and a sturdy, refined look. For added operator visibility and noise reduction, the enclosed muffler and exhaust pipe are horizontally positioned under the hood. Foldable ROPS with retractable seatbelt are standard.
The performance matched LA1002 front loader has been adopted for easier attachment/detachment with boom stands for easy on/off with no tools required, the company said.

Kubota Tractor Corp. (KTC) will increase its Georgia presence with an $8 million capital investment for the development of a 53-acre commercial site in Oakwood. Two operations will be located at the site: Kubota's first separate tractor and equipment assembly plant in the U.S. and the new Kubota Technical & Marketing Center.
The completed assembly facility will be 176,000 sq.ft. "Our initial goals are to build this new facility and shift assembly from our Southeast Division Assembly Department in Suwanee (Ga.)," said Nobu Toshikuni, president, Kubota Tractor Corp. "This will allow the Suwanee facility to concentrate on parts and whole goods storage and distribution, both critical functions for Kubota and its dealers. Even more important is the ability to support anticipated sales growth and service to our dealers through increased assembly capacity and productivity,"
