Diesel Progress North American Edition, May, 2008
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. has developed a fuel cell cogeneration system that produces both electricity and useful heat. The system can convert up to 39% of energy, generated through a chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, into electricity at its peak power generation of 750 W. The system is designed to reduce household crude oil use by 22% and carbon dioxide emissions by 12%.
Matsushita plans to produce several hundred units for experimental purposes at its plant in Kusatsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, before putting them on the market in 2009.
