Diesel Progress North American Edition, June, 2008

DRS Technologies Inc., Parsippany, N.J., said it has received three contract awards worth approximately $55 million from the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) at Fort Monmouth, N.J., to manufacture more than 2300 Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG).

The first delivery order is worth $37 million, the second delivery awarded is worth more than $10 million, and the third delivery order is valued at approximately $8 million. The orders include 5, 10, and 15 kW TQGs, which will be manufactured and delivered between April 2008 and April 2009.

The delivery orders are part of a $369 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract with CECOM that was placed immediately prior to the initial delivery award. CECOM placed the order on behalf of various Army, Navy and Air Force units through the Army's Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications Tactical, and its subordinate office of Project Manager for Mobile Electric Power at Fort Belvoir, Va.

Work on these contracts will be done by the company's DRS Fermont unit in Bridgeport, Conn. To date, DRS has manufactured more than 10,000 10 kW TQGs for the military, and by the end of the year, will have produced more than 21,000 3 kW units.
