Eaton expands motor, cylinder lines - Brief Article

Eaton Corp. has expanded several of its hydraulic motor lines, as well as relaunched its agricultural cylinder line.

The series 4000 Compact motors offers the same torque capacity as the existing 4000 units, but in a reduced envelope. The motor's maximum continuous torque rating is 8310 lb.in. with a flange-to-endcap dimension of only 7.97 in. on the smallest unit. For added flexibility, the motor can be specified with either a 2000 or a 4000 series-size output shaft. Typical applications include skid-steer loaders, fairway mowers, harvesters and other vehicles where space may be at a premium, the company said.

The 4K Compact low-speed, high-torque motor is available in six displacements that range from 9.8 cu.in./rev to 29.8 cu.in./rev, at flows from 20 to 30 gpm.

Standard features for the 4K Compact motor include a variety of mounts including bearingless, wheel and standard. A large selection of standard shafts is available including tapered, splined and keyed. Optional features include a shuttle valve, shuttle valve with back pressure relief, speed sensors and high pressure shaft seal.

The newest Big 6 Geroler, motors are targeted at applications in mobile equipment, including construction and ag machinery. Two new displacements, 45 cu.in./rev and 49 cu.in./rev, allow even more flexibility in meeting specific torque and speed requirements, the company said.

Featuring a metric mounting flange and heavy-duty 50 mm shaft, the Big 6 family was developed to meet the specific mounting and application needs of global customers. A four-bolt mounting flange is standard and features a 7.87 in (200 mm) bolt circle with a pilot diameter of 6.30 in. (160 mm). A 50 mm straight shaft is standard, while a 60 mm, tapered shaft and 2.125 in., 16-tooth splined shaft are also available.

The Big 6 is available in seven displacements from 19 cu.in./rev to 60 cu.in/rev. Continuous torques range from 8230 lb.in. to 14,920 lb.in. Continuous pressures range from 2000 psi to 3000 psi with maximum speeds of 153 rpm continuous to 698 rpm. intermittent. Options include a variety of ports, a case drain and speed sensors.

Eaton has also expanded its Valve-In-Star (VIS) motor line with the introduction of the new VIS 40, which is designed to deliver high torque in a compact envelope in applications such as skid-steer loaders, crop sprayers, grape harvesters, specialty harvesting equipment, construction equipment and compactors.

With dimensions of 5.75 in. from front pilot to end cap, it can produce peak torque to 30,000 lb.in, the company said. Its heavy-duty, nine-bolt housing is designed to handle pressures up to 5500 psi.

The VIS 40 is offered in three configurations, including bearingless, wheel mount, and standard mount. A variety of shaft options is available, including splined, tapered, and straight. Ports are located in the end cap and include popular sizes, the company said.

Eaton also said it is relaunching its line of hydraulic cylinders for agriculture equipment applications and is introducing more standard sizes. Ten new standard-stroke options have been added to the Eaton Field-Mate cylinder line, which now includes 30 models with bore sizes from 2 in. to 5 in. and strokes from 6 in. up to 24 in.

Expansion of the standard size range of Field-Mate cylinders increases their uses for load movement in machinery systems up to 2500 psi, the company said. Applications include seeding and pruning machines, planters, pickers, plowing discs, harvesters, shredders and sweepers.
