Cummins Westport said it has received an engine order for 150 C Gas Plus engines for buses for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro). The order also includes an option for an additional 600 units. The CWI natural gas engines will be installed in 40 ft., low-floor buses manufactured by Orion Bus for delivery mid next year.

This order brings to a total of 309 CWI C Gas Plus engines in use by Metro, and makes up 99% of their existing natural gas bus fleet. CWI has also received an order from France for an initial 78 CWI B Gas Plus and C Gas Plus engines. The engines will be installed in refuse collection trucks and pressure street washers manufactured by PVI, a subsidiary of Ponticelli, for operation within the city of Paris.
