New controls, switchgear from GE Zenith Controls - power generation

Diesel Progress North American Edition, August, 2003

New paralleling switchgear technology from GE Zenith Controls, designated the Entellisys Pro, offers expanded engine control features with built-in redundancy to maximize dependability and safety over a wide range of applications, according to the Chicago-based company. Applications include emergency standby, prime power, parallel with utility, single and multiple generators, cogeneration, distributed generation and alternative energy sources. Straightforward graphic screen configurations are designed to make the Entellisys Pro easy to operate without computer experience and redundancy features enable the user to achieve zero failure and zero control interruptions, the company said.

An extensive menu of built-in turnkey operations can be field configured and easily modified. The system's full Internet capability allows the user remote password-protected access from anywhere within a firewall. In addition, the Entellisys Pro is fully adaptable to existing systems, offering a single paralleling switchgear source for all engine-generator configurations.

The company has also introduced its MX150 controller, which provides increased processing power and flexibility for a wide range of power applications. This latest controller is easy to operate and includes more programmable features than earlier automatic transfer switch controllers, the company said. The MX150 controller's new LCD display indicates source availability, exercise time delay operation and system source condition. The LED is also used to provide recognizable line configuration for continuous monitoring of switch position.

Designed to provide service over a wide range of control setting ranges, these new controllers have also received international industry approvals. In addition, this new controller offers the benefits of an extensive list of new standard features--including the digital timer and adjustments (with one second resolution and 1/10 second resolution for engine start) and opto-isolated inputs for high electrical immunity to transients mid noise. Product enhancements include auto/manual control via SoftKey, event logging with date-time stamp and statistical analysis of switch functions.
