Diesel fuel dispensing filter - filtration

Diesel Progress North American Edition, August, 2003

Parker Hannifin's Racor Division has introduced its new FBO filter assembly for diesel fueling installations. The FBO filter is available in two different sizes using either a 10 in. or 14 in. filter element.

The FBO-10 assembly offers flow rates from 18 to 20 gpm, while the model FBO-14 can flow 25 gpm up to 30 gpm for diesel fuel, depending upon filter element installed.

The FBO unit can be supplied either with a prefilter element, a filter/separator element or water absorbing element. Element micron ratings of 1, 5, 10 and 25 microns am available. Racor said a unique "locking ring collar" design eliminates the need for tools when changing elements. One person can remove the filter can, change the element, install a new O-ring and attach the filter body to the filter head. All of these steps can be accomplished without fuel splasking or spills, the company said. No V-band clamps are used and installations are leak free, Racor said.

Diesel fuel dispensing applications can mount the unit outside fuel pumps. The FBO options include differential pressure gauges, a water level window with a floating ball and drain valves. An electronic water sensor option is available.
