Impco Technologies and Tecstar Corp., a subsidiary of Starcraft Inc., Madison Heights, Mich. have jointly announced the formation of Powertrain Integration LLC, which will provide the powertrain integration engineering expertise and production capabilities to satisfy OEM requirements. The new company will provide a broad range of systems, engines, components and services specifically focusing on the low volume need of OEMs in the specialty vehicle markets, including applications such as delivery vehicles; motorhomes; buses and military. This includes complete emission-certified engine packages and components as well as entire powertrain systems coupled together with the necessary integration and support services.

In other Impco news, the company announced that its BRC brand products, specifically developed for the light-duty automobile market, have been selected by Volkswagen Brazil for use in its Santana and Combi models. Installation of the BRC products on vehicles has been started. Volkswagen dealers in Brazil and Argentina will sell the vehicles. Additional Volkswagen models are being planned for production in the second half of 2004.
