Diesel Progress North American Edition, Sept, 2002 by Brent Haight

With the Nissan Edge engine system's electronic governor, multiple customized speed settings are allowed. Settings could be used to create maximum speed restrictions above specific lift heights or establish a maximum speed setting for indoor travel With the flip of a switch, a different maximum travel speed can be selected for outdoor travel and various safety features can be programmed, such as engine start-up only after installation of the operator's seat belt and engine shutdown if the operator leaves the seat.

According to Nissan, the Edge engine system allows maximum horsepower to be maintained at higher rpm than conventional carbureted engines. This translates into increased power for climbing ramps and improved response time to an operator's request for extra power.
