Diesel Progress North American Edition, Sept, 2007
ArvinMeritor Inc. has been selected by Armor Holdings to supply 1170 vehicle sets of front and rear drive axles for the next generation of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. This armored personnel carrier used by the U.S. military will use the full ArvinMeritor axle package including brakes, drivelines, antilock braking systems and transfer cases. The order is for ArvinMeritor's new front drive steer axle, the RF 19-611 with hydraulic braking technology; the RT 40-611 rear drive tandem axle; and the T-218 integral transfer case.
This is not the first order for ArvinMeritor with Armor Holdings, as it has been supplying front drive steer axles, transfer cases and rear drive axles, in both 4x4 and 6x6 configurations since 1991, in support of the U.S. Army's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle (FMTV) program. To date, 37,000 vehicles are in the field using ArvinMeritor drivetrain components.
