Cleveland, Ohio-based Lincoln Electric Co. has boosted the power range on the majority of its Ranger engine-driven welder family. Thirteen models within the 16-model lineup now feature increased horsepower, which tops out at 25 hp, along with a higher 11 kW electrical output.
Lincoln targets the Ranger series toward general contractors, maintenance teams, farmers and homeowners that use the welder/generators for a variety of light construction, maintenance and repair applications. The welders are offered in gasoline, LPG and diesel-powered models, which are all paired with Lincoln-wound alternators that produce 200 to 300 amps for welding and 9 to 11 kW of ac generator power. By adding more power to the units, Lincoln said, there is now more reserve power available for welding.
In the Ranger 10,000 Plus welders, 9 kW of continuous ac/dc power is provided along with stick, basic TIG, MIG and flux-cored welding capabilities. This welder is offered with a two-cylinder Kohler OHV Command CH23S gasoline engine rated 23 hp at 3600 rpm, which is a bump over the 20 hp predecessor. Also available is Subaru Robin's OVH EH65 gasoline engine rated 22 hp at 3600 rpm, a 1.5 hp increase from the previous offering or Honda's GX620 gasoline engine rated 20 hp at 3600 rpm.
Lincoln's Ranger 3-Phase welder and Ranger GXT welders with mechanical or electric fuel pump are both integrated with the Kohler OHV Command CH23S engine rated 23 hp at 3600 rpm. This is a 3 hp increase in all three gasoline models, which offer ac/dc stick welding, arc gouging, TIG, MIG and flux-cored welding. The Ranger 3-Phase welder delivers 9.5 kW continuous single-phase output and 10.5 kW continuous triple phase, while the GXT units have a 10 kW continuous output.
The Ranger 250 welder has either an electric, mechanical or vacuum fuel pump and is powered by Kohler's CH23S gasoline engine rated 23 hp at 3600 rpm or a Subaru Robin CH65 engine rated 22 hp at 3600 rpm. This is an additional 1.5 to 3 hp of power, depending on engine, to deliver 250 amps for welding at 100% duty cycle.
The Ranger 250 welder is also offered in an LPG version using a Kohler OHV Command CH730 LPG engine rated 25 hp at 3600 rpm--more than 5 hp over its predecessor. Lincoln also enhanced the power in its Ranger 305 G welders, which are powered by Kohler's Command CH23S gasoline engine rated 22 and 23 hp at 3600 rpm. The Ranger 305 G models have 9.5 kW continuous power output and deliver 300 amps for dc stick, TIG, wire and pipe welding applications. A diesel-powered version of the Ranger 305 is also produced by Lincoln. In this variation, a three-cylinder Kubota D722 diesel engine rated 18.8 hp at 3600 rpm drives the welder.
