Company takes design efforts to new level - product development firm Design Concepts Inc

That everything includes extensive Pro/E, Solidworks, Pro/Designer and other 2-D and 3-D design software packages along with 3-D model fabrication capability. "Using our CNC three-axis mill and the engineers' database, we can build first models in a matter of hours," Julien said. "We use the resulting model as a plug, develop silicon molds and cast multiple accurate urethane parts for each of the required prototypes.

"Most of our projects are engineering based, but we've also done things such as, product identity changes," added Julien. "A local manufacturer buys a product in Germany and he wants to look like the rest of his product line. Or an engine manufacturer wants his engine to look different, because he know if it looks complimentary to the OEMs product, he can sell more engines.

"A lot of what we do used to be done by the manufacturers themselves. But global competition has resulted in pressure on all the profit margins and they can't afford a staff of people to answer every question. They call on us and when their project's over, we're off to another client, until there is a next project."
