Xiotech offers Cisco MDS 9000 SANTap Service and Storage Services Module in networked storage solution
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, March 21, 2005
Xiotech Corporation has announced that it is delivering networked storage solutions featuring Magnitude 3D storage area networks (SANs) and TimeScale replication appliances with Cisco's MDS 9000 SANTap Service and Storage Services Module (SSM). Xiotech is the first company to offer SANTap and SSM as part of a complete, easy-to-use networked storage solution for the small-to-medium enterprise (SME).
Xiotech makes storage networking as simple as possible by delivering highly available, enterprise-class solutions that are easy-to-use. By qualifying Magnitude 3D and the TimeScale replication appliance with SSM and SANTap, Xiotech is enabling SMEs to simplify their storage environments and disaster recovery implementations, allowing them to take advantage of additional intelligence and functionality at the network level. As a result, traditionally complex services, such as data protection and disaster recovery, can more easily be implemented and managed.
"The small-to-medium enterprise needs simple to manage, cost effective storage networking solutions," said Ed Chapman, Cisco senior director of product management. "The Storage Services Module and SANTap Service help enable storage solutions such as Xiotech Magnitude 3D and the TimeScale replication appliance to deliver enhanced capabilities and functionality for SME customers without compromising performance, integrity, or availability."
"The Cisco SANTap Service helps enable the delivery of simpler data protection and disaster recovery solutions to our customers," said Neville Nandkeshwar, director of solutions marketing and strategy. "By combining this capability with Magnitude 3D's ease of use, SME's can further lower costs, while increasing the capabilities of their storage network."
Magnitude 3D with SANTap Service and SSM is available now. The TimeScale replication appliance will leverage Cisco's intelligent network services starting in Q2'05. The complete line of Magnitude 3D network storage products and solutions is qualified for use with Cisco's MDS 9000 family of switches and directors. Xiotech is a Cisco Solution Technology Integrator and sells and supports MDS switches and directors with the Magnitude 3D family.
Xiotech makes information storage and management as simple as possible. Since 1996 nearly 1500 small-to-medium enterprises have taken advantage of Xiotech's easy-to-use and highly resilient storage management solutions. The company's products include Magnitude 3D, Magnitude 3D 1000e, Magnitude 3D NAS, and TimeScale Rapid Restore. Current customers include Merrill Lynch, Bechtel, Lucent, Hibernia Bank, and St. Vincent Hospital. Xiotech also partners with industry leaders such as Brocade, Cisco, McDATA, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, and VERITAS. In 2004 Xiotech achieved record 25% revenue growth and was named the fastest growing technology company in Minnesota by Deloitte & Touche in 2003. Over the preceding five years Xiotech has grown almost 5,000%. Xiotech is based in Eden Prairie, Minn.
