Boeing Satellite Systems - Government Activity - Brief Article

Boeing Satellite Systems, Herndon, Va., is being awarded a $9,999,999 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for Satellite Connectivity Services and Bandwidth in support of the Standard Missile 3 Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD). This contract will provide technical and engineering services required to operate, upgrade, maintain and expand the ship/shore Satellite Connectivity System.

The purpose of this system is to provide wide-band, over-the-horizon data communications between a missile firing ship and several land-based stations located at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), and the continental United States during future planned tests of the Aegis Leap Intercept (ALI) missile. Work will be performed in Herndon, Va., and is expected to be completed by February 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, Va., is the contract!ing activity (N00178-01-C-1064).
