Pctel Modem Solution Selected For Newest Samsung Notebook Pc - Company Business and Marketing - Brief Article

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, April 3, 2000

PCTEL Inc. (Nasdaq: PCTI), a leading provider of personal connectivity and internet access technology, announced that Samsung Electronics has selected PCTEL's Mini PCI 1789W HSP56 World MicroModem technology for its newest notebook, the SENS 680 NotePC. PCTEL's HSP56 World MicroModem provides the SENS 680 notebook with an internal power miser modem solution that uses just one-quarter of the power required by DSP-based modems. This gives SENS 680 users the advantage of increased battery life. The pre-configured international modem also provides the user with ease in connecting to the Internet in countries around the world.

PCTEL's internal HSP 56K modem is a realistic solution for Samsung's SENS 680 notebook due to its small, battery-efficient and full feature design. With a software-based modem inside the notebook, the user will not experience the high power drain associated with a DSP-based PC card modem.
