Tripath's TLD 4012 Line Driver chosen for Alcatel Shanghai Bell's 24-channel DSL line card

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, April 19, 2004

Tripath Technology Inc. (Nasdaq:TRPH), creators of Class-T(R) Advanced 1-bit Digital Amplifiers, announced today that Alcatel Shanghai Bell has chosen its TLD4012, Class-T(R) ADSL Line Driver for a 24-channel DSL line card for use in its central office DSLAM equipment. Shipment of volume production started in late March 2004.

"We are very pleased that Alcatel Shanghai Bell has chosen Tripath's Line Driver product," said Dr. Adya Tripathi, Chairman, President and CEO for Tripath. "In May 2003, we announced our initial design win and volume production of our line driver product for Alcatel Bell NV (Europe) ("Alcatel"), and during Q3, 2003, we also started shipping our product to Alcatel USA. The Alcatel Shanghai Bell design win further demonstrates our successful, on-going efforts to proliferate our core technology in the DSL market and allows us to diversify our customer base across multiple market segments."

The TLD4012 is an ADSL line driver that provides the industry's lowest power consumption, low distortion as well as high through-put in a very small package due to Tripath's proprietary Digital Power Processing (DPP(R)) Technology.

Tripath's DPP(R) technology is also broadly applicable in digital media consumer electronic products such as home theater systems, automotive in-dash audio units, personal computers, gaming, set-top boxes, receivers and mini/micro component systems.

Alcatel Shanghai Bell is the first foreign-invested Chinese company in the telecommunications market. Alcatel retains controlling interest in Alcatel Shanghai Bell with Chinese shareholders holding the remaining shares. The multi-billion dollar telecom technology leader delivers end-to-end telecommunications solutions and high-quality services, covering the fixed, mobile networking, broadband access, intelligent optical networking, multimedia solutions and network applications. Alcatel Shanghai Bell also has a key international R&D center with full access to Alcatel's global technology pool, developing original technology for use in China and export to Alcatel's customers worldwide. With an advanced manufacturing center, and the most extensive sales and support network in China, it is the only company capable of meeting the global needs of Chinese customers.
