Seapine Software's QA Wizard 3.1 adds optical character recognition & remote script monitoring

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, May 2, 2005

Seapine Software, Inc., a provider of adaptable application lifecycle management (AALM) solutions, announced recently the immediate availability of QA Wizard 3.1 for automated functional testing of Windows and Web applications. New features in QA Wizard 3.1 include optical character recognition checkpoints, a script status tool, and significant improvements to batch file management.

Headlining the new release is the addition of optical character recognition (OCR) technology, which is used to convert graphical representations of characters into actual text. OCR checkpoints allow users to verify graphic-based text in objects, such as images charts, graphs, Flash-based application, and Java applets, that QA Wizard cannot recognize using more traditional techniques. This new feature helps QA Wizard users test previously unsupported controls.

QA Wizard 3.1 also includes a new script status tool. The script status tool gives users the ability to remotely monitor the progress of test scripts from their desks or while away from the office. The status tool can simultaneously monitor multiple workstations running QA Wizard test scripts.

In addition, QA Wizard 3.1 includes improved script batch management capabilities. Users can now view and manage batch files from within the application, change the order that scripts run in the batch file, easily update batch files when scripts change, and select batch file run options. Other QA Wizard 3.1 enhancements include an improved regular expression builder, the ability to capture screenshots and HTML, and much more.
