Chapura Announces Synchronization Software For Palm Handheld Computers - Product Announcement

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, June 5, 2000

Chapura, a developer of software primarily for handheld computers, announced technology to synchronize a Palm handheld computer with a Microsoft Exchange server.

Chapura's Microsoft Exchange synchronization software, when used with the new Palm HotSync Server software, announced in a separate release, allows users of Palm handheld computers to directly access information such as corporate email accounts and databases from their company's Microsoft Exchange server without having to download information to a personal computer and then synchronize that same information to their Palm handheld.

Chapura began developing software for the handheld computer in December 1996 and made its first release in April 1997 with RocketMirror, which is specifically designed for Microsoft Outlook and harmonizes Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes functions for the handheld computer. PocketMirror is bundled with Palm handheld computers and has been Platinum certified for three years.

Other software created by Chapura includes PocketJournal, which was originally released in November 1998. PocketJournal synchronizes Microsoft Outlook's Journal function, which allows handheld computer users to log phone calls, meetings and other activities into their handheld. The new version is Outlook 2000 compliant and has passed the Palm OS platform Platinum testing procedure.
