EDS gets approval from U.S. General Services Administration to begin accepting task orders for eTravel Services: Fedtraveler.com provides government agencies a proven solution for their travel needs
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, June 1, 2004
EDS has announced that its federal government eTravel Service, FedTraveler.com, has received Full Operational Capability from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA decision allows EDS to begin immediately signing task orders to provide travel services to federal government agencies.
EDS was one of three companies selected by the GSA to provide the government-wide travel management system. EDS' FedTraveler.com, is a proven, end-to-end travel service solution designed and built from the ground up for federal travelers.
"EDS has relationships with more than 300 transportation industry clients in more than 50 countries," said Al Edmonds, vice president, Global Sales and Client Solutions - U. S. Government. "Being able to offer a proven solution backed by such considerable travel experience greatly reduces the anxiety level for customers transitioning to this new travel management program."
FedTraveler.com provides Web-based, one-stop shopping for integrated, end-to-end online travel approval, procurement, and expense management in compliance with federal travel policies, procedures and security requirements.
FedTraveler.com also provides access to weather reports, maps, ATM locations, airport parking, exchange rates, restaurant information and passport services.
"For several months, the three contractor teams have been demonstrating their solutions to government agencies," said FedTraveler.com program manager Soo Morehouse. "The advantage of our solution is that it's a proven eTravel Service and we have built in a unique set of tools that includes fraud detection and other travel-related financial functionality at no additional cost."
The goal of the GSA eTravel Service is to deliver an easy-to-use, integrated travel service tool to the desktops of government customers, simplifying federal travel management, and at a substantially lower cost to the taxpayer.
