Lynx Technologies chooses Exabyte's VXA-2 automation

Exabyte Corporation (OTCBB:EXBT) has announced that Lynx Technologies, the leading Australian storage solution distributor, will resell VXA-2 automation solutions to its customers.

Lynx has fully certified VXA-2 and has begun marketing the ten-slot VXA-2 autoloader under the well-respected Lynx brand through its extensive network of channel partners.

The Lynx ten-slot VXA-2 autoloader--a Lynx-branded version of the Exabyte AutoPak 1x10 with VXA-2--is the most affordable, compact automated data storage for users with space and budget constraints, providing up to 1.6 TB (compressed)(a) of automated data storage and data transfer speeds up to 43.2 GB/hr (compressed)(a) in a slim design. With one VXA-2 drive and up to 10 VXA tapes, the 2U AutoPak 1x10 leads in capacity and price over other rack mounted autoloaders, making it the preferred storage companion for top-selling Compaq, HP, IBM and Apple 1u and 2u servers. For those with lower capacity requirements, the AutoPak 1x10 is also available with VXA-1. The AutoPak 1x10's no-hassle operation will dramatically reduce down time, user error and resource obligations for organizations.

VXA-2 dramatically increases the capacity and performance available to tape users who seek an alternative to DDS technology at similar pricing for drives and media. The VXA-2 drive can record up to 160 GB (compressed)(a) to a single cartridge at a data transfer rate of up to 12 MB/sec (compressed)(a)--which is 4x the capacity and 2x the speed of DDS-4, and 2x the capacity and 2x the speed of DDS-5.
