Toshiba Unveils New 1/2-Rack Design For Servers - Product Announcement

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, July 2, 2001

Originally developed in Japan as a technology statement for the server market, the new Magnia Z300 server wears an almost stealth-like black casing and debuts a unique 1/2-rack wide, side-by-side compact form factor. Strengthening its corporate appeal, the versatile new server series can be used in a rack-optimized environment or as a stand-alone, pedestal server.

The Magnia Z300 is targeted at customers looking for maximum performance in space saving form factor. In addition to its modular appearance, the Magnia Z300 also provides optimum expandability, featuring the latest technology including available Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless capabilities. For data hungry and application driven markets, the Magnia Z300 offers increased flexibility with the addition of multiple storage components and expansion device units.

"The Toshiba Magnia Z300 offers greater expandability and flexibility to help customers grow their business," said Steve Andler, vice president of marketing, Toshiba CSG. "Whether it is increased storage or data backup, the Magnia Z300 can adjust to meet the needs of today's businesses."

The Magnia Z300 strategic server is scheduled to ship in late Q3 2001. Pricing and specifications for the new series are not yet available.
