Moonlight Systems Joins Ibm's Project Eliza Partner Initiative
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, July 1, 2002
Moonlight Systems, Inc., a provider of automated server management software for enterprises, has announced that it has joined IBM's Project eLiza Partner initiative and will serve as a member of IBM's eServer Tools Network.
Project eLiza, IBM's groundbreaking initiative to make IT infrastructures self-managing, is complementary to Moonlight Systems' flagship product, Moonlight3, which is designed to automate the costly and time-consuming manual processes required to manage high-end servers.
Moonlight and the other Project eLiza Partners accepted in the program must "collectively address the four elements of Project eLiza's self-management requirements: self-configuring, self-healing, self-optimizing and self-protecting." Moonlight's offering addresses the self-configuring component by allowing companies to automate the manual tasks required to manage heterogeneous servers and, configure differences between servers on the fly. The product enables IT to control operational complexity, improve system reliability and reduce administration costs.
"Without question, managing complex infrastructure and yielding a reasonable return on that investment is one of the most important initiatives for our customers," said Van Symons, IBM's global marketing executive for Project eLiza. "IBM's goal is to make IT infrastructures smarter and easier to manage, and partners like Moonlight Systems are helping to make that goal a reality."
"With autonomic computing and its Project eLiza Partner initiative, IBM is leading the market in terms of providing server management solutions for their customers," said Bobby Mukherjee, CEO of Moonlight Systems. "Moonlight was founded to address many of the same problems that IBM aims to solve with Project eLiza. This initiative underscores an important synergy between our companies and validates our value proposition."
Moonlight Systems is a provider of automated server management software and creator of Moonlight3, its flagship product built to address the complex, heterogeneous nature of today's enterprise data centers. By automating the manual tasks of server management activities, Moonlight3 decreases operational complexity, ensures network reliability, and reduces overall management costs.[sections]
