Agfa Introduces The Arcus 1200 Scanner - Product Announcement

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, July 17, 2000

Agfa Corp.'s Consumer Digital Imaging Group (USA-CDI), a leading provider of award-winning digital cameras and desktop scanners, introduced the Arcus 1200 color scanner. This new generation scanner combines features from the award-winning Arcus family of scanners with the latest advances in flatbed scanning technology. Featuring 36-bit color depth and 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution, the Arcus 1200 includes two multi-format transparency holders.

Agfa designed the Arcus series scanners to give consumers an easy way to accurately capture photographs, artwork, awards and other memorable items and include the images in e-mails, Web pages, screen presentations or documents of any kind. The Arcus 1200 scans originals and automatically formats them for the Internet, word processing, text conversion (OCR), or image-manipulation programs.

The Arcus 1200's 36-bit color depth incorporates Agfa's new MultiPlate Technology by allowing users to replace the glass scanning plate with a glass-free slide holder for direct-to-image, distortion-free transparency scanning. By instituting a 3.2 D dynamic range, the Arcus 1200 provides the quality level needed for professional applications such as graphic design, multimedia, as well as magazine and newspaper publishing. The holders accommodate 35mm film strips, 35mm framed slides, and 6 x 6-cm, 6 x 7-cm, and 4 x 5-inch transparencies.
