Altec Lansing's inMotion audio systems for Apple iPod players to feature the Audible.com internet audio service

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, July 12, 2004

Audible, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBL), the leading provider of digitally delivered spoken word audio, and Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc., the leader in the design and manufacture of Powered Audio products, today announced the launch of a new marketing program. All inMotion Portable iPod Speakers will ship with in-box promotional material for the AudibleListener membership service.

The inMotion is a tiny, ultra-portable, battery-operated stereo system that is the first powered audio system designed exclusively for the iPod. The combination of Audible's audio and inMotion speakers allows iPod owners to transform any home, office, or hotel room into a state-of-the-art audiobook listening environment--perfect for busy professionals, students, and all those who desire to read when their eyes are busy but their minds are free.

iPod users can store and listen to hundreds of hours of audiobooks and other valuable spoken word audio programs from audible.com on their devices. Audio editions of newspapers, magazines, public radio shows, language learning, business analysis, personal development, stand-up comedy, historic speeches and readings are all part of Audible's content mix.

The marketing program rewards Altec Lansing for every new AudibleListener membership acquired by Audible through Altec Lansing's promotional efforts tied to the inMotion product. The in-box promotional material will communicate the benefits of listening to Audible audio through an iPod docked in an inMotion audio system and offer a call to action to join an AudibleListener membership plan. Never before has there been as elegant a way to listen to Audible's 50,000 hours of downloadable audiobooks and other premium spoken audio titles in a shared listening environment.

"This announcement represents a new and exciting step in building Audible's co-marketing programs with the leading makers of iPod accessories," said Matthew Fine, senior vice president, Enterprise Development, Audible, Inc. "We have an already large and growing number of Audible customers using iPods to hear their Audible content; we expect this program to broaden Audible's awareness among iPod owners."
