US Army Europe awards Titan $20 mil Automated Info and Ident Tech contract

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Jan 13, 2003

The Titan Corporation (NYSE:TTN) announced recently that it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army, Europe (USAREUR) having a potential value, with options if exercised, of $20 million through September 2007. Awarded by the USAREUR Deputy Chief of Logistics (DCSLOG)--the Executive Agent for the US European Command for the management of Automated Information Systems and Automatic Identification Technologies (AIT) within the European Theater--the contract calls for Titan to support the largest military AIT infrastructure in the world.

"Automatic Identification Technology is a key tool in helping today's soldier track supplies and locate assets," said Eric DeMarco, Titan's President and COO. "We are pleased at the opportunity to be a key participant in this high priority program supporting the soldiers in the European and Central Command."

AIT is a technology that provides in-transit visibility--in near real time--of equipment, conveyances and personnel to support worldwide military and civilian security operations. This technology has been vital in tracking movements of assets between the United States, the European theater, and Southwest Asia.

This win continues the AIT support that Titan has been providing to USAREUR since 1994. Operating from Friedrichsfeld, Germany, Titan has personnel located in six European countries who are responsible for the management of the AIT infrastructures that have been installed to date, as well as all future expansions of these technologies destined to the European Theater, the Balkans and integration with joint service automated information systems.

Headquartered in San Diego, The Titan Corporation is a provider of comprehensive information and communications systems solutions and services to the Department of Defense, intelligence agencies, and other federal government customers. The company has approximately 10,000 employees and annualized sales of approximately $1.4 billion.
