EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, August 9, 1999

> San Jose, Calif.-based Geometrix Inc. has formed a new business unit to serve the 3D modeling community by providing fully-textured, ready-to-use models of physical objects generated by the company's 3Scan object scanner. To introduce the new service, Geometrix says it will offer one free fully-textured object scan to all new customers during 1999.The scanning service will provide complete, ready-to-use models for animators, computer game developers, industrial modelers, and Internet content creators starting at $500 per model, a fraction of the cost of alternatives.Arthur Zwern, president of Geometrix, says his firm designed the service as "a practical alternative to purchasing a scanner for anyone with low-volume automated modeling needs."
