EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, August 19, 2002
Conxion Corporation has been chosen by Broderbund to provide digital delivery services for its products.
Broderbund selected Conxion's Cache-on-Demand service to deliver the soon to be released version of its popular The Print Shop Deluxe for Broadband 15, which is specifically designed for use with high-speed Internet connections. Cache-on-Demand uses Conxion's HotRoute Digital Delivery Network (DDN) to ensure the fastest delivery possible by making intelligent decisions about the routes data should travel to the end user.
Broderbund originally considered managing the delivery process in-house but chose to partner with Conxion to avoid the major expense of expanding its network.
"We needed a flexible, cost-effective way to accomplish our current and future electronic software distribution goals and Conxion's Cache-on-Demand service was the right answer," said Steffen Bartschat, vice president of engineering at Broderbund. "Using this product on Conxion's high-powered IP-only network, we have the flexibility to start out small--initially offering targeted products such as The Print Shop Deluxe for Broadband 15--and grow with this system to handle any download volume of this and future broadband products we publish." Users can seamlessly access The Print Shop Deluxe for Broadband 15 from Broderbund's web site and download images from a creative library of more than 15,000 project templates and over 290,000 premium images, in just minutes.
"Leveraging Conxion's global backbone and Cache-on-Demand services enables our customers to achieve their software delivery goals through an outsourcing model that makes good business sense," said Greg Quinn, Conxion's vice president, sales and strategic alliances. "We are pleased to be able to work with Broderbund--the market leader in their industry--and this application illustrates our focus on building e-Business solutions."
