Charles Stark Draper Laboratory Inc., Cambridge, Mass., is being awarded a $7,253,272 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. This effort will provide a prototype inertial instrument, namely the silicon oscillating accelerometer, a revolutionary integration of silicon micro-fabrication, packaging and high-performance electronics technologies that will enable strategic-grade performance from miniature, low-cost, high-reliability, solid-state inertial instrument.

The objective of this acquisition is for advanced guidance, navigation and control system designs and technologies that could lead to an integrated system for flight demonstration. At this time, $1,259,755 of the funds has been obligated. Further funds will be obligated as individual delivery orders are issued. This work will be complete by September 2008. Solicitation began July 2002, and negotiations were completed July 2003. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., is the contracting activity (F29601-03-C-0056).
