Intel Group offers Interlink's LucidLink Wi-Fi Security Software for small businesses under joint marketing agreement
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Jan 24, 2005
Intel Corporation and Interlink Networks have announced a joint marketing agreement authorizing Intel's Desktop Platform Group to offer Interlink's easy-to-use LucidLink Wireless Security software for small businesses to Intel's channel partners. The relationship gives Intel another building block in the wireless ecosystem it is developing for the digital office. This agreement in particular addresses the rapid growth in wireless LAN (WLAN) and networked devices that add to the complexities of connectivity and security, with particular attention to the needs of small and medium-sized businesses (SMB).
LucidLink simplifies wireless setup, security and maintenance procedures for organizations with five to 250 employees while delivering the same level of wireless security available to larger enterprises with far more expensive systems. It is the first software package that enables non-technical users to install and configure wireless security in just 15 minutes.
The software's "Click. Click. Connect." capabilities enable administrators to add or remove users from the wireless network with one or two clicks without the need to understand technical terminology--an especially useful feature for administering access for temporary WLAN users such as bookkeepers and consultants. After the initial setup, authorized users are automatically recognized, connected and secured every time they boot up their PCs without extra steps like password entry.
"Interlink's LucidLink product complements our Digital Office initiative by providing the security and manageability that is part and parcel to achieve our vision of complete mobility through wireless technology," said Louis Burns, Intel vice president and general manager, Desktop Platforms Group. "It is a key new component in the product offerings we are assembling to enable our channel partners to provide a total wireless solution to their small and medium-sized business customers."
"This agreement reinforces ease of use as an essential feature to ensure that smaller businesses take the steps necessary to secure their wireless networks," said Mike Klein, CEO of Interlink Networks. "Security should be part of any wireless deployment regardless of the size of the organization, and our LucidLink product makes that possible without needing an IT person to authorize and administer users' recurring or temporary WLAN access."
