The Boeing Co., Anaheim, Calif., is being awarded a $273,200,000 cost-plus award-fee contract to provide for a Family of Advanced Beyond-Line-of-Sight Terminal (FAB-T) program that will use an evolutionary acquisitions strategy and a spiral development process to develop a family of terminal with an open architecture that can satisfy the satellite communications terminal requirements for a variety of platforms.

The architecture will allow modification or extension of the terminals to incorporate technology or capability upgrades in future increments of the program. The first increment will provide the FAB-T architecture and design, develop and test next generation extremely high frequency engineering development models of terminals for the B-2, B-52, E-4, E-6, and RC-135 aircraft and for the ground-fixed and ground-transportable command post terminals. The location of performance Harris Corp., Government Communications Systems Division. At this time, $3,000,000 of the funds has been obligated. Further funds will be obligated as individual delivery orders are issued. This work will be completed by September 2008. Solicitation began March 2002 and negotiations were completed in August 2002. The Headquarters Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., is the contracting activity (F19628-02-C-0048).
