VTEL announces the Vista VX media station - and VTEL Conferencing 3.1
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Nov 25, 2002
VTEL Products Corporation, a manufacturer of PC-integrated videoconferencing systems, recently announced its latest video communication endpoint, the Vista VX media station, a shelf- or rack-mountable version of the previously released Vista MX portable unit.
The release of the Vista VX completes the launch of VTEL's new flagship product line, the Vista family of media stations.
Designed to sit on a shelf or mount inside a VTEL premium or classroom cabinet, or in a 19-inch standard rack, the Vista VX includes all the features of the Vista MX, plus audio line in, pan-tilt-zoom control for an optional second camera, a DVD drive and an external camera.
The Vista VX works with a wired or optional wireless Local Area Network (LAN), and makes an excellent replacement product for VTEL MediaMax or ESA users who want H.323/IP capability, high-resolution PC graphics or up-to-date PC technology. The product also supports optional Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and Data/Dialer Module (DDM) communication interfaces. Vista VX includes VTEL's new QuickTouch handheld wireless remote control. VTEL is taking orders for the Vista VX now, and the first units will ship from the factory in December.
"We have tens of thousands of customers using VTEL endpoints that are up to four generations old," said Bob Swem, VTEL president and CEO. "They asked us for a modern videoconferencing system that could easily and affordably replace their existing units. Our answer is the Vista VX. In most cases, it is a cinch to swap out their old video codec and install a new Vista VX system right in the same cabinet and using their existing peripheral devices," Swem explained.
VTEL also introduced its latest software release, VCS (VTEL Conferencing Software) 3.1. This software version brings some exciting new features to the Vista products, including the ability to display graphics at 1024 x 768 resolution. As part of VTEL's commitment to total customer value, every product in the new Vista line includes a standard 36-month hardware parts replacement and VTEL software warranty. Additionally, VTEL is offering an attractive trade-in program for videoconferencing users who own previous VTEL or non-VTEL endpoints.
Based in Austin, Texas, VTEL Products Corporation is a leading manufacturer of PC-integrated video communication endpoints, video network management software, multipoint conferencing systems and network access solutions to education, government and corporate enterprise customers worldwide.
