InoStor ships next-gen SATA-based network storage appliance with Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Nov 22, 2004

InoStor Corp., a Tandberg Data Company, has announced general availability of its next-generation M Series InteliNAS network storage appliances based on Microsoft Windows Storage Server. The highly scalable appliances feature Serial ATA (SATA) drive technology in 1U and 2U form factors with storage capacities ranging from 480GB to 4.8TB.

Built on the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 platform, the InteliNAS M Series offers greater dependability, seamless integration and reduced management and administrative workloads. The high-performance appliances operate with all popular clients including Windows, UNIX, Apple, Linux and Novell.

The InteliNAS 1U is designed to meet entry-level storage requirements. Small and easy-to-deploy, it offers storage capacities of 480GB, 1.0TB and 1.6TB in a rackmount package. Additional features include dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, four hot-swappable frontloading SATA hard drives and a 350W power supply.

InteliNAS 2U high-capacity devices offer storage capacities of 1.44TB, 3.0TB and 4.8TB in a 2U rackmount system. A convenient Web interface allows administrators to easily manage the system. Features include 12 hot-swappable SATA hard drives, dual 400W power supplies and dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for rapid response to user requests.

Both the 1U and 2U appliances support RAID 0, 1 and 5, and both offer optional tape autoloader or library as well as disk-to-disk and disk-to-tape backup.

"InoStor is focused on developing feature-rich, innovative NAS solutions," said David Licosati, vice president of business development. "Our new SATA-based InteliNAS appliances, based on Windows Storage Server, offer proven, superior storage benefits for heterogeneous environments. InoStor is in a unique position in that we manufacture and support the primary NAS disk storage as well as any tape storage and software that may be purchased with the system. Our customers are not subjected to the typical run around between a company's various technical support organizations."

MSRP for the Windows Storage Server-based InteliNAS appliances begins at $3,099 for the 1U form factor and $7,399 for the 2U form factor. Price includes a 3-year parts and limited labor warranty with free U.S.-based technical support and advanced exchange for the full 3 years.
