EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Dec 8, 2003
SI International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SINT), an information technology and network solutions (IT) company, announced recently that it has been awarded a contract to provide command and control (C2) modernization engineering and technical services support to North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), and Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) for defining, developing, fielding, testing, and sustaining their next generation Combatant Commander's Integrated Command and Control System (CCIC2S). The competitive task order was awarded through the Federal Technology Service (FTS) Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM) under the Millennia Lite contract. The task order has a 14-month base period and one-year option with a potential value of $11 million, inclusive of the option period.
"CCIC2S has been characterized as the solution of choice for operational C2 of the counterspace and force enhancement missions, and the foundation upon which to eliminate C2 stovepipes. With a strong background in developing critical C2 modernization plans, operational architectures, operational concepts, operational requirements, and other life-cycle system engineering documents for the Department of Defense, we look forward to the ongoing opportunities to support the NORAD, USSTRATCOM, and AFSPC in their mission-critical work," said Ray Oleson, Chairman and CEO of SI International.
With C2 modernization as a key focus area, SI International has been supporting NORAD, United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) (now USSTRATCOM), and AFSPC for more than eight years. In addition, SI International has supported AFSPC Space-Based Sensors systems, Spacelift Range systems, Range Standardization and Automation, military satellite communication (Milsatcom) systems, the Air Force Satellite Control Network, and other AFSPC programs since 1996.
