Small Business-Focused Solution Provides Custom Configured Internet Access, Email And Hosting

Web hosting, DSL, and e-commerce services provider Concentric Network Corp. and big PC maker Compaq Computer Corp. are partnering to deliver an integrated Internet access package to small- and medium-sized businesses. The new offering, Compaq.NET for Business, is a custom configured solution based on the popular ConcentricHost Internet service.

Features of the integrated solution will include domain name hosting, online account management, auto responding emails and a browser-based site building tool that includes templates for various industries.

"As Compaq continues to move everything to the Internet, joining with proven Internet service providers like Concentric gives us the ability to quickly extend tailored solutions to our customers with greater confidence," says Ray Frigo, VP of iServices & Solutions at Compaq. "With a clear focus on providing Internet services specifically fashioned for small and medium-sized business customers, Compaq.NET for Business lays the groundwork for Compaq to provide much broader choices and strengthen our partnership with our customers."

Compaq.NET for Business will offer three custom created plans designed to scale as businesses expand, allowing for greater numbers of e-mail accounts and additional disk space and bandwidth allocation. Packages start at $21.95 per month, with discounts for yearly prepays. Customers can register for the service through the web at www.compaqbiz.net. Starting early next year, Prosignia systems with Windows 2000 will come with an icon pre-configured to automatically establish and launch the Compaq.NET for Business service.
