MPC Computers introduces the NetFRAME 4620 server
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Dec 20, 2004
MPC Computers, a Gores Technology Group company, has announced the NetFRAME 4620 server, which offers the latest in enterprise-class features in a dual-processor server. The NetFRAME 4620 includes Intel's 7520 chipset, up to 16GB of DDR2 400 ECC memory for improved performance, and onboard RAID 5 capability which allows for additional redundancy without utilizing an extra PCI slot.
This new system also supports Intel's new Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) and PCI Express. Intel's EM64T enables server platforms to access larger amounts of memory and run 64-bit operating systems. PCI Express slots deliver over 3.5 times more bandwidth than existing PCI slots, and they operate at near maximum throughput without slowing down other devices.
"The NetFRAME 4620 is an enterprise-class server that offers exceptional performance at a great price," said Paul Petersen, MPC's vice president of product marketing and development. "It provides our mid-market and public sector customers with the performance and scalability previously available only in a much more expensive quad processor server."
The NetFRAME 4620 also features Dual Gigabit Ethernet for faster networking capabilities and high compatibility. Available in the pedestal or optional 5U rack chassis, the NetFRAME 4620 also provides the choice of up to 10 hot-swappable SCSI or 6 SATA hard drives. Hot-swappable PCI, fans and power supplies are included with every NetFRAME 4620 server.
The NetFRAME 4620 server includes 3 years of on-site service, replacement parts and technical support as part of the standard configuration. In addition, three Network Operating System (NOS) support resolutions are also included with every standard server warranty.
Two, Four or Eight Hour On-site Service provides for mission critical repair service at a customer's location. The necessary replacement parts will be shipped to meet the on-site technician within two, four or eight hours of being dispatched (depending on the customer's location). This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for eligible customers.
