Force Introduces Pentium 4 Processor-Based Atx Form Factor Platforms For Low-Profile Systems - Product Announcement

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, Feb 11, 2002

Force Computers, a Solectron company (NYSE:SLR) has introduced its new line of dual Pentium 4 processor-based ATX form-factor platforms, the Force Embedded Servers, which includes the FES-4201 board. Powered by the latest Pentium 4 Xeon processors with clock speeds ranging from 1.8 to 2.2GHz, the FES-4201 board utilizes the small 12x10-inch ATX board format to offer a high-performance, high-density solution designed for cost-effective 1U/2U system requirements. Also offering up to 12GBytes double-data-rate SDRAM, Gigabit Ethernet, PCI-X and the ServerWorks Grand Champion LE chipset, it provides robust I/O capability, including for network storage, medical imaging, high-end firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), streaming media servers and high-end embedded print engines.

"As one of Force's first ATX products, the FES-4201 embedded server platform leverages our lengthy experience pioneering different architecture designs that we then develop into industry-leading solutions," said Aadil Abdelilah, Force product marketing manager. "We continue that legacy with this first-to-market, dual Pentium 4 processor-based board implemented on a space-saving form-factor with high-performance DDR-SDRAM and high-speed, high-bandwidth I/O -- easing system integration for OEMs."

FES-4201 boards will be available through Force's Early Access Unit (EAU) program in February 2002 with volume shipments scheduled for March 2002. Single-unit-quantity pricing starts at $840.

Force is a charter member of Intel's Applied Computing Platform Provider program. Intel Applied Computing Platform Providers is a licensed program consisting of third-party board vendors that meet Intel's strict criteria for quality assurance, manufacturing capacity, design capability, tools and support.
