Truesan Teams Up With Hitachi Data To Enhance Open Storage Management
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, March 4, 2002
TrueSAN Networks, Inc. has announced that it is working with Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd (NYSE:HIT), to integrate its Cloudbreak Storage Operating System with Hitachi Freedom Storage systems. By leveraging Hitachi Data Systems' HiCommand Application Program Interfaces (APIs), TrueSAN will extend the advanced management capabilities of its Cloudbreak software to the Freedom Storage Lightning 9900 series and Thunder 9200, as well as additional third-party storage systems supported by the HiCommand software.
"This alliance enables customers with storage infrastructures from Hitachi Data Systems to leverage the end-to-end storage management capabilities of our Cloudbreak Storage Operating System," stated Tom Isakovich, President and CEO of TrueSAN. "This relationship is evidence of both parties' commitment to providing customers with open software solutions that reduce the cost and complexity of storage management."
TrueSAN's Cloudbreak solution represents the first Storage Operating System: a comprehensive, network-based platform for managing heterogeneous storage networks. Unlike single-purpose utilities, Cloudbreak represents a unique solution: a software suite that combines essential storage management technology (storage virtualization, storage network and device management, storage resource management, business continuance applications, and policy management) in a single, integrated solution. TrueSAN's end-to-end approach to storage management enables customers to more quickly reduce storage management costs and more effectively capitalize on the benefits of storage networking. Cloudbreak's storage network and device management technology leverages the Hitachi Data Systems' HiCommand API to provide seamless monitoring, management, and performance analysis of Hitachi Freedom Storage systems within the Cloudbreak environment.
"TrueSAN's support for Hitachi Freedom Storage gives our customers even greater power and flexibility to manage their storage infrastructure on their own terms, fulfilling application, server and storage requirements with ease," said Steve East, vice president, Storage Integration, Hitachi Data Systems. "Development efforts with TrueSAN further enhance the benefits of the HiCommand Framework and Hitachi Data System's support of open, third-party interoperability."
