CaminoSoft announces Information Lifecycle Management solution for Windows XP workstations
EDP Weekly's IT Monitor, March 1, 2004
CaminoSoft Corporation (OTCBB:CMSF), a provider of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions, announced today that it has completed the development of Managed Client HSM(TM) for Windows XP. Based on CaminoSoft's Managed Server HSM(TM) for Windows 2000 solution--selected as a SIIA 2004 Codie Award "Best Storage Software" finalist--this innovative Windows XP-based product brings vital storage management capabilities to popular Microsoft desktops.
Neil Murvin, Chief Technology Officer for CaminoSoft, stated, "Managed Client HSM for Windows XP adds another dimension of scalability and affordability to our ILM suite. The user interface connects to an agent running on any configured Windows XP workstation, delivering the same look and feel as our applications for Microsoft or Novell servers. An administrator can readily configure client policies and watermarks that trigger the migration of seldom-accessed workstation files to specific target volumes/directories on primary, secondary, and tertiary storage tiers."
Murvin continued, "The software provides the ability to automatically migrate, recall, and delete files based on age and activity criteria, supporting standard Windows XP infrastructures including wireless communications. From a user's viewpoint, the workstation storage resource remains at optimal capacity and migrated files appear just as they were when created--unchanged and resident in their same directories. From an administrator's viewpoint, seldom-accessed files spread across multiple users in the organization are now protected and retained on network storage resources through rigorous backup procedures until such time as they are deleted per established policies."
