What he does: Along with Joe Guerra, Pillsbury oversees the Santa Monica-based operator of more than 300 golf courses in the United States and abroad, including Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Oregon. AGC also runs eight New York City public courses, including Van Cortlandt Park.
How he got started: After graduating from the University of California (where he was co-captain of the football team), Pillsbury worked for California Gas and Mattel toys before getting his MBA at USC. In June 2000 he and Guerra, a business school classmate, were named co-CEOs.
NUMBERS GAME: AGC has 20,000 employees and forecasts revenue of $850 million in 2001.
