Old game, new twist

Golf Digest, Nov, 2003 by Mike Stachura

Shoe and glove technology only works with a good fit. For shoes, that's a thumbnail space between your toes and the end of the toe box. For gloves, the tab closure should reach almost all the way across the back pad, fingers tight after making a fist.

FOOTJOY's SciFlex glove boasts five separate materials, and the DryJoys P.R.O. has separate heel and forefoot soles and an aluminized-fiberglass bridge. ETONIC's Stabilite Plus offers a flared heel and pyramid cleats for stability. The ADIDAS ClimaCool promotes ventilation in a 20 percent lighter shoe. NIKE's SP-7 features Nike Air in the sole, a Gore-Tex lining and a carbon-fiber midfoot. MIZUNO's Breath Thermo gloves beat the cold with a material that converts body moisture to warmth.
