Leaders in the clubhouse - Brief Article

Golf Digest, Dec, 1999

Fred Neal Detroit

Neal, 54, recently enjoyed the best stretch of golf in his life, with back-to-back-to-back eagles at Rouge Park Golf Course. The 4- handicapper holed his approach on the par-4 eighth, chipped in for 3 at the par-5 ninth, and sank a 12-foot eagle putt on the par-5 10th. "Now my friends call me 'Fred Three Eagles,' " says the retired fire captain, who shot a two-under 70 for the day.

Donna Lesser Bedford, N.Y.

Buffy Ogden New Canaan, Conn.

The first-round match of the Women's Westchester and Fairfield County Golf Association Championship between Lesser and Ogden had plenty of fireworks, but none more exciting than two bombs at the seventh hole. Lesser holed a 5-iron on the uphill, 118-yard par 3 at Waccabuc (N.Y.) Country Club, then watched Odgen top her with a perfectly struck 7- wood. Lesser won the match on the final hole.
