A pull-out-and-save review of the fundamentals

Golf Digest, Jan, 1999 by Nick Price

How to test a new clubWhen it comes to choosing equipment, feel is important. But feel can fool you. The best way to gauge the potential of a club is for you to hit 10 balls with your old club, then 10 with the new one. Look at how far and how straight you hit it with each. If you hit it better with the new club, put it in the bag.

Other- wise, stick with what you have. I'll use a club that feels like a sledge- hammer if it does the job.
