Do you have a unique physique?

Golf Digest, Jan, 2004 by Johnny Miller, Guy Yocom

A golfer's anatomy can be a challenge for teachers. An anomaly in your physique can affect how your body performs. It should be considered before making a swing change. It's also not a bad idea to find a teacher with a similar body type.

Calvin Peete, one of the best players in the 1980s, had a left arm that was permanently bent because of a childhood accident. If Calvin had tried to swing like the rest of us, we would not have heard of him.

Small things should be considered, too. The 1996 U.S. Open champion Steve Jones switched to a reverse-overlap grip after injuring the index finger on his left hand; how does this affect his swing? If I were a teacher, I'd find out before insisting on a swing change.
